COLLAGE & SYMBOL WALL CROSSES
A wood cross form is covered with a layered collage of special papers and fibers and I further embellish them with a combination of my symbol designs made in polymer clay, my handmade polymer clay beads, and wire.
The swirling of beads on the wires express the Spirit in motion, flowing around us and through us into the world. The rich colors emote the depth of joy we find in faith and each symbol tells a resonant story of Christian faith.

Earlier crosses shown as samples measured 8" X 41/2" and some remaining ones are still available as shown in the first images. I am now using 9 1/2” X 5 1/2” cross forms, so the proportions will change for many of the new ones. There is one larger one finished and available now.

Originally, these collage crosses were made in collaboration with San Antonio collage artist Patti Reed. We still hope to coordinate our schedules in the future for more collaborative pieces but until that works out, I give her all the credit for inspiring these collage crosses and encouraging me to tackle it on my own. As I experimented with a new process of altered images using the CitraArt process, I found myself with plenty of unique and colorful papers to use in these collage pieces, putting my own spin on the collage process.
