My husband owns Lakeside Optical in Katy, TX. I also show my work there between shows, giving local customers a place to shop in person. More about Lakeside Optical and our location can be found on Lakeside Optical's website.
If you are an artist and would like to create and maintain your own website for a bargain flat fee monthly price, I can highly recommend this hosting company. It is a very simple web based set up process, with easy customizable template choices. You don't need any software or experience with web design. You can try it out for 2 weeks before you pay a cent or provide any information to the hosting company. If you decide to sign up, please name me as your referral source and I'll be happy to accept a free month of hosting from OPP. Click on their name or the cute little OPP design graphic in the top right corner of any page and read about their offerings.
The mission of The Episcopal Church and Visual Arts (ECVA) is to encourage artists, individuals, congregations, and scholars to engage the visual arts in the spiritual life of the church. ECVA values the significance of visual imagery in spiritual formation and the development of faith, and creates programs to support those who are engaged in using the visual arts in spiritual life.
The Episcopal Church and Visual Arts (ECVA) is a community of artists and individuals who share an appreciation of how art can influence our spiritual well being. ECVA Chapters are local communities that provide opportunities, dialogue, and fellowship within ECVA. We are rapidly growing this new ECVA chapter in the Diocese of Texas. This is a rewarding ministry I find myself very involved with these days.
The Episcopal Café is a ministry of the Diocese of Washington. The Café is a collaborative effort by more than two dozen writers and editors, and an ever-growing list of visual artists that aspire to create a visually appealing, intellectually stimulating, spiritually enriching site where one can read, watch, listen and reflect upon contemporary life in a context informed by faith and animated by the spirit of charity. Most of the art on the Café is provided by The Episcopal Church and Visual Arts. The Art Blog offers additional information, and sometimes a brief meditation, on each piece.
The
jewelry I design for this organization can be found in the SPECIAL PROJECTS section. The mission of The Community of Hope is to create and sustain Christian communities of volunteer lay pastoral caregivers, united in prayer, shaped by Benedictine spirituality and equipped for and serving in pastoral care ministries. It began as a ministry of the Diocese of Texas, founded in 1994 at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital, Houston and has grown into an ecumenical international organization.
I met these 4 ladies at a local bead show and purchased many of their creations to incorporate into my own work. The 4 women call themselves the Texas Hot Flashes. From their website. "Through our past and present affiliations with the Houston Society of Glass Beadmakers (aka Houston Hotties) (HSGB) we came together to form our new group of four lampwork artists who have uniquely different styles but the same common desire to achieve the utmost satisfaction while creating our art." For more about each of these artists, follow the link.
Artist friends of mine, Cherie & Glenn McBride (aka Duckie & Grackle) own a beautiful brick and mortar fine art gallery in downtown Lake Jackson, Texas - devoted to wild bird art! And now an online gallery.
This links to Ken Webb's website. Ken makes the copper crosses that I embellish with copper flame painting, polymer clay and wire. These collaborative pieces may be viewed in my photo gallery titled "Copper & Clay Wall Crosses".
Judy King, a friend and fellow artist, inspired and encouraged me to play with the clay. I owe my new leap into this area to Judy for which I will be ever grateful since the clay work serves as cheap therapy for me. Visit Judy's website to see the beautiful "little people" she creates with polymer clay.
